Civic Group President Warns of Hacked Email Account

Hacking of former Wantagh-Seaford Homeowners' Association address leading to scam messages asking for money.

(WSHA) President Ella Stevens is warning residents who may have received an email from wsha@email.com asking for money, to ignore the messages since they are a scam.

“If you received an email claiming it came from Ella Stevens or WSHA asking for money for a sick cousin in Madrid, please do not respond," Stevens emphasized in a statement. "This is nothing more than a scam. This email account had been hacked recently and e-mails were sent out without our knowledge."

“The hacker, in turn hopes to get access to everyone else’s email so as to perpetuate the scam further,” Stevens added.

The wsha@email.com account had been deactivated in late February when a new email account for the Homeowners Association was opened. The correct email address for the civic group is is info@wsha.li.

“Emails warning of the scam have been sent under the new email account
to all those who have signed up with us,” Stevens said. “In addition, a
police report had been filed with the [Nassau County Police Department] and the old email account server had been notified. It’s sad that unscrupulous people would take advantage of unsuspecting people in this manner in order to scam people out of money,”
