Popular Seaford Italian Restaurant Closes

Pomodorino on Merrick Road loses lease.

Many Seaford residents were shocked and saddened last week when they spotted a “for rent” sign on a popular local Italian restaurant.

on 3915 Merrick Rd., Seaford has shut its doors after 16 years in the community. The restaurant’s owners placed a sign in the window late last week, which has since been removed, saying after 16 years they lost their lease and are sad to close.

“This restaurant has been a mainstay of our small town and a welcome part of our community for years,” said Seaford resident Kelli O’Connor Roth. “It's very sad to lose such a special part of our community. Pomodorino was a true family restaurant.”

The  has held many of its regular business meetings at Pomodorino including the group’s most recent session on Sept. 20.

“It was a place that many people would frequent on a regular basis,” said Seaford Chamber of Commerce President Kenneth Jacobsen. “I’m sorry to see them close.”

Jacobsen said he is hopeful that another restaurant will soon move into the location, which is located at the corner of Jackson Avenue in the vicinity of the .

"We're hoping to find a new tenant for that storefront sooner rather than later," said Jacobsen.

A spokeswoman for the landlord of the building Pomodorino was housed in said Monday evening she did not have any information on a possible new tenant.
