Since its inception in 2005, the Marcum Workplace Challenge, a 3.5 mile run held annually at Jones Beach, has raised nearly $150,000 for several local charities.

This year's beneficiaries from the run are The Long Island Children's Museum in East Garden City, The Children's Medical Fund of New York, and Hauppauge-based Long Island Cares, Inc. - The Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Marcum LLC has been the title sponsor of this event for six years. Garden City resident Leslie Segrete, a star of TLC’s While You Were Out and Trading Spaces, sounded the starting gun for the race. American Idol contestant Robbie Rosen of Merrick sung the national anthem.
