VIDEO: Movie Shootout Filmed at Wantagh Bar

New independent film "The Night Never Sleeps" films shootout and murder scene at Guido's Irish Pub on Wantagh Avenue.

It may have looked like a real chaotic crime scene and police investigation outside of in Wantagh this past Sunday, but it was actually a movie shot.

Director Fred Carpenter's new independent film "The Night Never Sleeps" was filming a murder scene at the popular Wantagh bar. The video above provides a behind-the-scenes look at the filiming with cast interviews. 

The first scene the crew shot earlier in the day was the opening of the film where one of the villains, "Ice Man," played by Russ Camarda from Lindenhurst, tries to rape a women in the bar and an undercover police officer stops him, but gets shot and killed in the process. The scene called for realistic gun fire and special effects.

The follow-up investigation scene starred Dan Brennan, from Port Washington, as the lead police sergeant, his partner played by Stephanie Finochio from Lindenhurst and TV star Robert Clohessy (Blue Bloods, Boardwalk Empire), as the murdered police officer's partner whose whereabouts during the shootout were unknown.

Nassau County Film Commissioner Debra Markowtiz said the county welcomes more film projects in the future as the movie industry brings an economic boost to the local area.

"The Night Never Sleeps" will continue production for the next few weeks and will be shown at film festivals and theaters during the summer of 2012.
