Videos: Wantagh School Board Candidates Explain Their Platforms
Trustee candidates speak out on issues facing the district.
Wantagh residents had a chance to meet the candidates running for school board in an informal gathering at the cafeteria Monday evening.
Incumbent Wantagh Board of Education school board member Michael Cucci is running for his fifth three-year term. Running for their first term on the board are Michael Soethout and Mitch Zerner. Incumbent trustee Ann-Marie Sturniolo opted not to seek re-election.
The top two of three vote-getters in the May 17 at-large election will win seats on the board.

Cucci, who has previously served as president and vice president of the school board, is a 1976 Wantagh High School graduate whose four children have all gone through the district. Soehout is a liability litigations claims specialist who been involved with numerous community activities including the PTA, Wantagh Budget Advisory Committee and a coach with the . Zerner has worked the last 25 years as a real estate analyst, has been a member of the Wantagh Budget Advisory Committee for the last decade and has coached youth soccer and softball.
