From the start of the game in last year’s title game rematch, Garden City took control right from the opening draw scoring the first nine goals of the contest. Wantagh however showed some fight and scored the final four goals of the half to trail 9-4 at halftime. Garden City’s explosive offense once again caught fire in the second half however with the Lady Trojans (14-0) scoring five of the first seven goals in route to a 16-9 win.

Wantagh was led offensively by four goals from North Carolina-bound Paula Schmidt and three from Colleen Lovett. Hofstra-bound April Iannetta and Sabrina Mattera also tallied goals for the Lady Warriors.

"The game was a good battle between two good teams,” said Colivita. “I was glad to see the girls play tough and with a lot of heart."

"We started off really well, and we kept it going," said Garden City head coach Diane Chapman. "We got a little too content in the second half, and when you're playing against a team like Wantagh, you have to be alert until the end."
