Holiday Show We Care Dance Party A Sucess

A "Workout to Help Out" charity event recently hosted by the Be Fabulous Foundation, Inc. at Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church was described as a success by organizers.

The event was put together with the help of Be Fabulous Foundation instructors and board members. This included the organizatin's founder Darlene Smith, board member Tina Scalise and instructors John and Nora Hickey. Donations of more than $1,700 were made to 15 families that were nominated by clients.

Students from Wantagh High School who took part in a recent GangNam Style dance for a YouTube video performed at the fundraiser.

A somber candle lighting at the end of the event was also held to remember those that lost their lives in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on Dec. 14. Debbi Solomon read a tribute with the name of each victim as Santa Claus lit 27 candles as Wantagh High School student Jenna Fazio sang "Silent Night." 

Local businesses who took part in the fundraiser were The Massage Therapy Shoppe P.C in Wantagh and Primp L.I. Be Fabulous Foundation, Inc. donated 100 percent of all money collected and also sent a truck full of toys went to the Island Park School District for the holiday season.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
