Wantagh Gymnastics Off To Flying Start

The Wantagh High School gymnastics team is in the midst of a successful 2012/13 season. 

The Lady Warriors (4-1) won their home opener on Jan. 9 against Valley Stream, 154.3 to 127.9. Wantagh's Brianna Quinn captured the all-around competion with a sCore of 33.45 and Lauren O'Mara took first place on floor exercise with a score of 9.45. 

On Jan. 14, Wantagh was again victorious by a 155.9 to 146.2 score at North Shore High School. Quinn won the all-around (33.4) and Julie Giardina placed second with a 33 score.

Wantagh's next two meets will be at home at Wantagh Middle School on Jan. 16 against Long Beach at 5 p.m. and Jan. 18 versus Roslyn starting at 7 p.m.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
