Wantagh Varsity Gymnastics Off to Fast Start

The Wantagh High School varsity gymnastics team is off to a solid start in the New Year after posting wins against Hewlett and Great Neck North last week.

On Jan. 3, Wantagh defeated Hewlett 147.85 to 109.35. Wantagh's Brianna Quinn won the all-around competition in the meet with a score of 34.45. Ellen Charalambouf of Wantagh finished third in the all-around with a 28.9 score. 

The Lady Warriors improved to 2-0 on the young season the next day with a 141-95.5 triumph at Great Neck North. Wantagh had the top three scores in the all-around led by Quinn (33.15), Lauren O'Mara (29.4) and Gina Ciappina (27.45).

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
