#86: Get Sunglasses for Summer

Sunglasses are important in eye protection, especially during the summertime.

With the summer fast approaching it is time to make sure you have a proper set of sunglasses for those days that will be spent outside in the heat.

in Seaford is an ideal place to pick out the sunglasses that best suit you.  The store has a variety of designer glasses choose from. Master optician, Barry Santini, and New York State licensed optician, Robert Meyrowitz, guarantee that you will "look your best" and feel comfortable when you leave the store.

UV radiation, whether it's from natural sunlight or artificial UV rays, can cause long-term damage to eyes and surrounding areas. While we all know to put sunscreen on even during winter days, we often forget that our eyes are just as sensitive to UV radiation. According to the Environmental Protection Agency:

"Long-term exposure to UV radiation can lead to cataracts, skin cancer around the eyelids, and other eye disorders. In the short term, excessive exposure to UV radiation from daily activities, including reflections off of snow, pavement, and other surfaces, can burn the front surface of the eye, similar to a sunburn on the skin," the Environmental Protection Agency states.

Long Island Opticians offers a variety of designer sunglasses, from Oakleys and Revos to Maui Jims and Raybans. So while you're picking out sunglasses for you, pick out some for your children and grandchildren. Sunglasses should be worn everyday, even cloudy days, by everyone to protect the eyes from UV radiation.

The EPA recommends that you should check your child's eyewear frequently to make sure it's not damaged. When choosing eyewear for your child and yourself, be sure to buy sunglasses that shield your children's eyes from most angles.

The opticians at Long Island Opticians have non-prescription sunglasses, but can offer you prescription sunglasses as well.
