Annual 'Walk Now for Autism Speaks' Held at Jones Beach

Walk for autism awareness attracts more than 32,000 participants.

The annual “Walk Now for Autism Speaks” was held at Jones Beach State Park in Wantagh this past Sunday.

More than 32,000 people participated in the walk to raise awareness and funds for research to find a cure for autism. The walk is the largest in the country for autism awareness, according to Autism Speaks.

Among those who took part in the walk were local elected officials State Sen. Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., R-Merrick, and Assemblyman David McDonough, R-North Merrick. Senator Fuschillo and Assemblyman McDonough thanked the walkers for their efforts and lauded Merrick resident Michael Giangregorio, who served as the walk’s chairman.
