Civic Group to Host Post-Sandy Recovery Forum in Seaford

An April 15 informational meeting being organized by Wantagh-Seaford Homeowners' Association for victims of Oct. 29 superstorm will feature representatives from more than 20 agencies

Five months after Hurricane Sandy devastated many homes and businesses in the Wantagh-Seaford area, a local civic group has organized an upcoming forum where representatives from more than 20 agencies will be on hand to answer questions about available programs for residents still recovering from the Oct. 29 superstorm.

The post-Sandy informational meeting being hosted by the Wantagh-Seaford Homeowners’ Association (WSHA) is scheduled for April 15 in the Seaford Knights of Columbus Hall at 6:30 p.m.

“Everyone is welcome to come, meet and speak with representatives that will be on hand from federal, state, county and town agencies, including organizations involved in post storm efforts,” said WSHA President Ella Stevens. “Anyone who lives on the south shore knows firsthand of the devastation this storm brought to the area. While many programs have been presented throughout the county to help rebuild homes and businesses, for many, the process has been painfully slow and for others the process has not yet begun.”

Stevens said as April 15 draws closer, the WSHA will publish on the organization’s Facebook page a complete list of agencies scheduled to participate in the forum.

“Our homes and lives may have been turned upside down, but the communities of Wantagh and Seaford have always come together to help each other out,” Stevens said. “The goal of this forum is to bring help to us. It is our hope to have those that attend this forum feel that they finally have accomplished something; that they not only have the answers and information they need, but a direction in which to proceed.”
