Jones Beach Boardwalk Bandshell and WCBSFM 101.1 present Greatest Hits Saturdays throughout June and July. Tribute bands playing the sounds of Billy Joel and Heart will take the stage, along with motown favorites. The music begins at 7:30 p.m. and free parking can be found in Field 4.

Big thanks to Bob Blickwede of Jones Beach Events for scheduling so many awesome bands during the past few years. Some of my fondest memories are of rocking out at bandshell concerts & enjoying them so much that I shared many of the songs played on YouTube and Facebook. So I am especially disappointed that the scheduled shows I was most looking forward to ~ Aug 26 & 27 featuring Evolution the Journey Tribute and Rocketman the Elton John tribute have been cancelled because J&B Restaurant Partners has cancelled the artist budget for Fri and Sat nights in Aug/Sept. Band members who have long commutes down to LI will no longer get expenses paid for traveling hundreds of miles (one way) to get here. They shouldn't have to spend their own money to play a show. It's not fair to the bands, especially high quality professionals like Evolution and Rocketman! If they're not playing that weekend, I will not be at Jones Beach. I hope J&B will reconsider. Last year's Evolution concert drew thousands of people and no doubt made J&B's food vendors lots of money. All musicians are not equally talented & charismatic & replacing these two powerhouse bands with "anyone who's local and will play for free" is not only unfair but bad business.
