This event is being rescheduled to some time in January due to the hurricane.

The Wantagh Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the Good Guy Award to Joe Iavarone of Iavarone Brothers Foods for his dedication to community and charitable causes.  Joe and his family have been longstanding supporters of the Wantagh community and many charitable organizations, including UCPN, March of Dimes, Autism Speaks, Juvenile Diabetes Research and Children International.

Join us as we recognize Joe for his commitment to our community at Oheka Castle, 135 West Gate Drive, Huntington, NY.

We'll begin at 6 pm with cocktails.  At 7 we will present the award, followed by dinner and dancing to live music.  There will also be silent and live auctions and a commemorative journal.

All proceeds will go to the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce Charitable Community Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable foundation dedicated to supporting charitable and community causes within the greater Wantagh area including assistance in times of tragedy, scholarships and community events.

Please consider supporting this effort by attending, taking a journal ad or donating a prize.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
