Fundraiser to Help Flood-Damaged John Theissen Children's Foundation

April 11 benefit at Mulcahy's Pub & Concert Hall aimed at helping Wantagh-based charity recover from more than $15,000 in flood damages caused by recent snow storms.

After suffering significant flood damage to its fun center in the last two months from snow storms with many toys and electronics destroyed, the Wantagh-based John Theissen Children's Foundation (JTCF) has scheduled an April 11 fundraiser designed to help the 21-year old charity get back on its feet.

The JTCF first took a hit in mid February when its wish room and arts and crafts area was partially destroyed from flooding caused by a nor'easter. Further flood damage was also discovered at the foundation headquarters on 1881 Wantagh Ave. in late March. Total damages are estimated by JTCF founder John Theissen to be more than $15,000, which he said insurance is not covering.

The April 11 benefit to help get the JTCF's fun center back open is scheduled from 6-10 p.m. at Mulcahy's Pub & Concert Hall. The event, which is open to all ages, will feature an open bar, dinner and gourmet dessert along with live music from the band Current Affair. To purchase $30 tickets to the fundraiser or provide a donation to help the center, make checks payable to: JTCF 1881 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh NY 11793.
