Save My Mom Bone Marrow Drive, Auction and Charity Jewelry Bar

Why Go:  To help save a life, come to this worthy drive, auction and charity jewelry bar.  Marica Jabick is dying of a rare form of leukemia and needs your help.  She is in desperate need of a live saving transplant.  Featuring at this fundraiser will be a chinese and silent auction, Judith Ripka Charity Jewelry, Handbag Bar and gift card to a variety of local businesses.  The silent auction will include hotel stays, concert tickets, movie tickets and autographed sports memorabilia. Nassau County Museum Presents: "Richard Avedon: Photographer of Influence"

When/Where:  1 Museum Dr, Roslyn, NY 11576 (Saturday & Sunday, 11:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.)

Why Go:  Richard Avedon (1923-2004) is remembered as one of the great image makers of the 20th century.  More than 50 photographs from the legendary artist will be showcased at Nassau County Museum of Art.  This began back on May 21, and will continue until September 4th.   According to the museum: "The exhibition celebrates Avedon’s storied career in which he embraced the worlds of both magazine and museum, pioneering a vision of photography as a two-sided mirror that reflects both the subject and the photographer."

Boardwalk Bandshell: Greatest Hits Saturdays

When/Where:  , 1 Ocean Parkway, Wantagh, NY 11793 (Saturday, 7:30 p.m.)

Why Go:  Come down to the Jones Beach boardwalk bandshell to hear greatest hits from different generations of music.  With the beach behind you, the setting is perfect for an evening of music and outdoor scenery.  Presented by 105.9 radio, tribute bands will play music by Billy Joel, Heart, as well as motown classics.  Parking for the concert can be found in Field 4.

Sunday Brunch at Hemmingway's

When/Where:  , 1885 Wantagh Ave, Wantagh, NY 11793 (Sunday, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)

Why Go:  For one of the most delicious brunch experiences you'll have, look now further than Wantagh's own Hemmingway's American Bar & Grill.  Enjoy a variety of choices including omelets, waffles, pastries, deserts, fresh fruit, pasta and much more!  They also have Sangria Sunday's, which offers diners $3 sangria, bloody mary's and mimosas.

Why Go:  Come down to the Jones Beach boardwalk bandshell to hear beautiful latin music for Latin Sundays.  With the beach behind you, the setting is perfect for an evening of music and outdoor scenery.  Presented by 105.9 radio, you'll hear all your latin favorites and will be able to dance the night away.  Parking for the concert can be found in Field 4.
