Lane Closures Impact Meadowbrook, Seaford Oyster Bay

Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes.

The New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) announced road closures that are affecting the local area this week.

On the Meadowbrook Parkway, two southbound travel lanes will be closed between Old Country Road (Exit M1 and Merchants Concourse (Exit M3) between 10 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday.

These closures are needed to install scaffolding at the Zeckendorf Boulevard and Merchants Concourse bridges.

On the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway (Rt. 135), nightly closures of all northbound travel lanes between Merrick Road and Hempstead Turnpike began on Monday.

They will remain in effect Monday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for between three and six weeks, weather permitting.

It is anticipated that the southern section between Merrick Road and Jerusalem Avenue will be completed in about three weeks.  The nighttime closures will then be reduced to Jerusalem Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike only for the remaining three weeks.

These off-peak day time Rt. 134 travel lane closures are needed to perform the $34.4 million construction project to renew the aging pavement, install planted medians and provide updated safety improvements between Merrick Road and Hempstead Turnpike.

As with most road work, this operation is weather dependent and may be canceled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes.
