Live at the Jones Beach Boardwalk Bandshell: The Dead Rock Stars

Sponsored by the Texting Awareness Foundation, hard rock band performs at Wantagh venue as part of free summer concert series.

The four piece rock/metal band, The Dead Rock Stars, performed live this past Thursday evening as part of the free concert series.

The concert was sponsored by the Texting Awareness Foundation, a non-profit, grass roots organization dedicated to spreading awareness of the dangers of texting while driving.

Starting at 8pm and playing while the sun was setting, the atmosphere was set for a memorable concert. The band is made up of Dark Kevin on vocals, Stevie C. on guitar, Johnny Wildchild on Guitar/Vocals, Scott Siebert on bass guitar and Rob Ferreria on drums.  They played heavy metal classics such as 'The Ace of Spades' by Motorhead, and modern day hits like 'Down With The Sickness' by Disturbed.

"They play loud and clear, which is my kind of band," said David J., a Massapequa resident who attended the concert with his daughter.  "They sounded just like Motorhead when they played Ace of Spade, which is not an easy thing to do.  I really like the style and swagger of the band."  Adam Thompson of Bellmore was walking a long the boardwalk and the band caught his attention.  "It's a beautiful night out here, and to get a nice dose of rock n' roll while I'm here is the icing on the cake."

The Dead Rock Stars have been playing live around Long Island for the past three years, and bill themselves of "bringing with them music which ranges from Classic Rock of Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith to the Nu-Metal of Godsmack and Disturbed. Professional, Hard Rocking and always Entertaining."  Visit their Reverb Nation site here, and listen to covers they have of 'I'm Eighteen' by Alice Cooper, and 'Slither' by Velvet Revolver.
