Local Cantor To Speak at Hadassah Event in Wantagh

Cantor Steve Sher from Temple B’nai Torah in Wantagh will share anecdotes from his career at fundraiser for Haddasah.

Ahava Machar Hadassah is hosting a program at the Forest City Community Center in Wantagh this Sunday that will feature a speech from a local cantor providing insight on his career.

The Jan. 13 program in Forest City Community Park on 3099 Morgan Drive will feature a presentation by Cantor Steve Sher from Temple B’nai Torah in Wantagh. Sher will share numerous anecdotes from his career in temples across the country. Refreshments will be served.

Admission to the event scheduled for 1 p.m. is $5 with all proceeds going toward Hadassah. For further information call 516-521-4505.

Ahava Machar Hadassah serves women from their 30's to their 90's in the communities of Wantagh, Seaford and Bellmore. Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, is a volunteer organization that aims to inspire a passion for and commitment to its partnership with the land and people of Israel.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
