Mulcahy’s Pub & Concert Hall in Wantagh is hosting a fundraiser for victims of Superstorm Sandy this Sunday that will feature several musical acts.

Sunday’s benefit, which is scheduled to last from 4-10 p.m., is co-sponsored by Long Island rock station WBAB, Mulcahy's, Jeff Krasner Productions and Red White & Blues Band. Schedule to perform are multi-platinum British musician John Ford of The Strawbs, Essence, Red, White & Blues Band, Mark Newman, Peppy Castro, Barnaby Bye, Blues Magoos, Jerry Demeo, Frank Carillo, Dennis Grimaldi and Phil Grande of the Joe Cocker Band.

Organizers ask that attendees bring modest donations with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward Long Island Cares/Harry Chapin Food Bank in Hauppauge. New blankets, socks, underwear and non-perishable food will also be collected. People unable to attend the benefit concert but who want to make donations can do so by clicking here

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
