Renda was also the runner up for the Miss Teen Photogenic honor.

Thirty-seven of Long Island’s most beautiful and accomplished young women competed today for the coveted titles of Miss Long Island and Miss Long Island Teen 2014 and the two winners will advance to Donald Trump’s New York USA 2014 Pageant in January.

The winners were Michelle Medoff of Great Neck and Sabrina Franza of Oceanside. Paulina Renda, of Wantagh, was third runner up.

Franza also won the Miss Teen Photogenic honor, while Renda was the runner up for that award as well.

The Miss Wantagh Pageant committee had recently announce that Renda, the Miss Wantagh 2012 2nd runner-up, was chosen among 350 girls to compete for the title of Miss Long Island Teen 2014.

"I did not want the pursuit of my literacy platform to end because I did not win the pageant," Renda said. "My goal is to promote an emphasis on learning and a love of reading in children. As a tutor, I have found that those struggling even in subjects like math and science have a weakness in reading comprehension skills. My objective is to instill in children, no matter what adversities or struggles they may face, confidence in themselves and in their knowledge and that happens with reading."
