Variety of items for victims of Oct. 29 storm to be made available from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday in front of Seaford Harbor School.

The Seaford Harbor community is holding a tagless tag sale Saturday to help local victims of Superstorm Sandy.

Saturday’s event being held next to the Seaford Harbor School is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. and will feature winter coats, clothes, blankets, diapers, baby formula, etc. Organizers said that items that do not have a price on them can be taken for free. Items that there has been a need for that will be available free of charge for drive by or walk up pickup include:

  • bleach
  • paper towels
  • work gloves
  • masks
  • plastic bins
  • household cleaners
  • towels
  • sponges

Volunteers from the Seaford Harbor community will also be in front of the elementary school on 3500 Bayview Ave. Sunday morning at 11 a.m. handing out fliers to residents with need-to-know information and resources on how best to address storm-related issues.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
