Statue Dedicated to Fallen Biker

Monument in memory of biker killed by drunk driver.

A monument honoring a bicyclist killed by a drunk driver four years ago was recently dedicated in Seaford.

The  "Ghost Rider" monument was erected in Cedar Creek Park. It honors the memory of 19-year old Matt Scarpati, who was killed by a drunk motorcyclist in July 2009 at Wantagh State Park.

Scarpati was changing a tire on his bike at the time. His parents have founded Miles for Matt, a foundation dedicated to promoting athletics and recreational safety.

Members of the Scarpati family joined County Executive Ed Mangano and other officials  in dedicating the monument earlier this month.
