Wantagh Chamber of Commerce Holds Holiday Lighting

Over 150 residents gather at Wantagh LIRR station for ceremony celebrating Christmas and Hanukkah.

Over 150 community members gathered at the  late Sunday afternoon for the annual Holiday Lighting celebration. Both a Christmas tree and Menorah for Hanukkah were lit to help kick off the 2010 holiday season.

"We had a good turn out this year, despite the freezing cold weather," said Wantagh Chamber of Commerce president Christopher Brown. "It's a wonderful tradition to have."

The event featured games and prizes provided by 98.3 KJOY, a performance by the  Vocal Jazz Ensemble and dance routines from Wantagh's . The Christmas tree was decorated by Boy Scout Pack 691.

Following the lighting, Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived on a fire truck provided by the . Santa spoke at the show-mobile provided by the Town of Hempstead, and then sat in the gazebo with Mrs. Claus for the children to come see.
