Wantagh Public Library Holds Veterans Food Drive

Donated food is distributed to Long Island Cares: the Harry Chapin Food Bank

The recently held a food drive to benefit local veterans.

Wantagh Public Library staff members and patrons collected several boxes full of canned food as part of the veterans food drive program. The food collected by the library was donated to Hauppauge-based Long Island Cares: the Harry Chapin Food Bank for use in their veterans outreach program, which provides support for veterans and active duty military personnel and their families.

After conducting the food drive State Sen. Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., R-Merrick, and Assemblyman Dave McDonough, R-North Merrick, visited the Wantagh Library to thank staff members and patrons for their contributions.

"The outpouring of support from the staff at the Wantagh Library and the Wantagh residents who donated food at the Library was tremendous.," said Fuschillo. "Their
efforts will go a long way towards helping veterans, members of our armed forces, and their families. I thank the Library and the Wantagh community for their generosity."
