Wantagh Synagogue Hosting Annual Interfaith Service Friday

In an ongoing effort to educate and keep an open dialogue between all religions, Temple B’nai Torah in Wantagh is hosting its annual Joyce Berger Memorial Interfaith service this Friday evening.

Joining Rabbi Marci N. Bellows and Cantor Steven Sher of Temple B’nai Torah at Friday’s event will be Pastor Brian McMillan of the CenterPoint Church of Long Island in Massapequa. McMillian and other members of his non-denominational Christian church will discuss being one community in a topic of conversation called “What Unites Us?” In keeping with the theme of community, the service will be followed by a dessert reception offering a chance for attendees to talk with members of the two congregations and their spiritual leaders.

“Our Joyce Berger Memorial Interfaith Shabbat has become a wonderful part of our year, allowing us to celebrate what connects us all, rather than what divides us,” Rabbi Bellows said. “This year, we look forward to hearing from Pastor Brian McMillan, spiritual leader of CenterPoint Church...We treasure the opportunity to learn more about him and his congregation.”

Friday’s service is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Temple B’nai Torah is located along the Wantagh-Bellmore border on 2900 Jerusalem Ave.
