Dave Matthews Band to Headline Two Nights at Jones Beach

Long Island shows to kick off Tuesday at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater.

After a one-year hiatus from their famous summer shows, Dave Matthews Band (DMB) is back on tour and back in the studio gearing up for a September release date on their eighth studio album.

With elements of love, life, politics, race and war, DMB  has soared to the top, selling nearly 40 million albums since 1991 and frequenting the stage with some of jam band's largest names like guitar great Tim Reynolds, Trey Anastasio of Phish and Warren Haynes of the Allman Brothers Band and Gov't Mule.

DMB will take to the stage at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh Tuesday and Wednesday evening in the early stages of their tour with support from opening act Fitz and the Tantrums, a soulful indie group formed in Los Angeles in 2008.

In addition to individual tour dates, Dave Matthews kicked off the summer as a headliner for the famed three-day Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Ala. The festivities for the year aren't over yet, as the band is slated to headline the inaugural River's Edge Music Festival in St. Paul, Minn. alongside names like The Flaming Lips, Tool and Puscifer.

Tuesday's DMB show opens at 6 p.m. while Fitz and the Tantrums are set to hit the stage at 7 p.m. rain or shine. For further information or to order tickets, click on Live Nation's website

Also performing at Jones Beach this week is hip-hop artist Drake on Saturday starting at 7 p.m. Drake is touring with J. Cole, French Montana, Waka Flocka, 2Chainz, and Meek Mill on his Club Paradise Tour.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
