 Wantagh-Seaford  See map

On Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 2 pm – 4 pm, the Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church, 1845 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh, will host a Stone Soup Open Mic to benefit the Freeport Emergency Food Pantry.  People of all ages and faiths are welcome to participate and attend.

Choirs, and other groups, as well as soloists, instrumentals, poetry and dramatic readings are welcome!  Participants should be prepared to perform something appropriate for all ages as there will be young children present.  Since this is a food benefit, songs about food will be the sub-theme, but are not required.  If you do not have an accompanist, please bring sheet music.  We have one mic stand, a couple of mics, a keyboard, an organ and an upright piano.

ADMISSION TO THIS “FOOD-RAISING” EVENT IS AT LEAST ONE NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEM PER PERSON.  EACH PARTICIPANT IS ALSO REQUIRED TO BRING NON-PERISHABLE FOOD.  There is plenty of FREE parking in the Town of Hempstead parking lot behind the church.

For more information, or to participate, please call the church at 516-785-1829 or send an email to us at wmcc1845@verizon.net.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
