Video: Free Concert Held in Forest City Park

Beatles tribute band performs in Wantagh as part of Town of Hempstead summer music series.

This past Wednesday night, community members enjoyed a concert tribute to the Beatles at in Wantagh. The show is part of the Town of Hempstead's "Free Neighborhood Concert Series."

"You don't have to leave home. It's right in your neighborhood" said Town of Hempstead Councilman Gary Hudes, "That's the greatest thing about Kate's concerts local community concerts."

Local residents set up camp with lawn chairs, blankets and food for a fun filled night with family and friends. "We try to make as many concerts as we can," said Marilyn Bruno, "and we're Beatle fans besides that."

The band, Liverpool Shuffle, has been performing since October 2008 all around the tri-state area but was particularly excited for Wednesday night's performance. "I actually lived in Forest City back in the 80's," said band member Joe Refano, "so it is sort of a homecoming of sorts."

The Summer 2011 Concert Series has bands booked in nearly every musical genre throughout the Summer months. The next concert will feature Ants Marching, a Dave Matthews Tribute band at in Levittown on July 15 at 8 p.m.
