Ke$ha to Hit Nikon at Jones Beach Theater Stage Saturday

Singer/Songwriter/Rapper Brings Act to Wantagh

In 2005, Ke$ha Sebert got her first taste of being in the public eye when her family played host to Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton on an episode of "The Simple Life."

By the time she was 18, she had a record deal. At 22, she had taken part in a duet that would reach #1 on the charts.  Today, she is headlining a world tour after tremendously successful studio releases and another one on the way later this year.

Not bad for a high school dropout.

Saturday night, Ke$ha  brings her music talent to Wantagh’s .

Ke$ha came from good musical stock since her mother, Pebe, was a singer-songwriter herself, and a good one at that, co-writing the 1978 single "Old Flames Can't Hold A Candle To You" with Hugh Moffat for Joe Sun.  Once she realized that her teenage daughter had vocal talent, Pebe began bringing Ke$ha with her to sing when she'd be at recording studios. That would be the start of what sure seems like a potentially huge musical career.

While her work thus far has been largely electropop, Ke$ha's list influences includes a diverse list of artists such as Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, and Madonna.  She intends for her new album to showcase more of her rock side with the inclusion of heavy guitars. As she explained recently to MTV, "I just want to capture some of the true essence of what rock and roll is, and that's just irreverence and sexiness and fun and not giving a f---."

When she makes her way to Jones Beach on Saturday night, Ke$ha will delve more into rock as well, as she has promised to play a variety of instruments including synthesizers, guitars, keytars, and a theremin.  But if you're looking to hear the songs she is best known for, have no fear, as you can expect all the big hits, such as "Tik Tok,"  "Your Love Is My Drug," "We R Who We R," and "Blow."
