Neil Diamond To Make Wantagh Stop in 2012 Tour

Famed singer/songwriter will be appearing at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater for the first time on June 8.

Famed singer/songwriter Neil Diamond, known most famously for the 1969 hit "Sweet Caroline", will be taking his act to Wantagh's for the fist time in 2012.

Diamond, who has sold more than 125 million albums in his five-decade music career, will be making a Wantagh stop during his North American tour on June 8, the rock/pop icon announced in a press release this week. It will mark the first time the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee has performed at the Jones Beach venue.

Diamond's Wantagh stop will come one week after he kicks off his 2012 tour in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on June 1. Tickets for Diamond's June 8 Jones Beach show go on sale Dec. 5 at Ticketmaster.com, LiveNation.com and NeilDiamond.com.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
