Student Musicians Perform at Mulcahy's

Monster Music of Levittown held its latest student performance showcase at Wantagh venue.

Monster Music of Levittown recently held its latest student performance showcase at Mulcahy's in Wantagh, with more than 300 people packing the club to see the talented local students perform.

After preparing for months, more than 60 Monster Music students performed. Half of the students are from Levittown with the others from surrounding communities.

The showcase has been held every six months for the past six years, according to Brian Reardon, owner of Monster Music.

"These performances add an incredible dimension to the lesson program experience," Reardon said. "The students are not just coming to an eight by eight room each week but, in addition to learning all of the theory, they are preparing to perform."

Some students sang and while others played instruments ranging from guitar to bari sax. Students performed to artists as varied as Taylor Swift to Charlie Parker. Several other students composed and performed original pieces, and the performances stretched for over four and a half hours.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.
