Wantagh Musician Wins Rising Star Award

Vocalist/Guitarist Trish Torrales recognized for her musical talents at recent Huntington Arts Council competition.

Wantagh resident Trish Torrales recently won the Rising Star Over 14 award in the Huntington Arts Council’s fourth annual Got Talent? Long Island competition.

Got Talent? Long Island featured the region's most talented aspiring artists taking the stage in front of a panel of celebrity judges in the Dix Hills Performing Arts Center at Five Towns College. The event was held as a fundraiser to support the programs and services offered by the Huntington Arts Council

The 18-year old Torrales, who graduated from Kellenberg High School in Uniondale last June, by the Huntington Arts Council out of nearly 100 individuals and groups that auditioned this past January. The Wantagh vocalist/guitarist gained recognition for her musical talents last year when she  of the first annual MSG Varsity Talent Show last year and won in the song writing category for Rockville Centre’s Respect Life Contest with her song “Measure Of Love.” She is currently writing songs for her new EP that is scheduled to be released soon.

This Saturday at 2:45 p.m., Torrales is scheduled to perform during a charity event for Rock Out Autism at in Farmingdale. Entry into the show is a $10 donation.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
