Wantagh Teen Advances to MSG Varsity Talent Show Finals

Trish Torrales to compete for title this Sunday evening.

Wantagh’s Trish Torrales has advanced to the final round of competition in MSG Varsity’s Talent Show.

Torrales’ performance of “Bad Moon Rising” helped her secure enough votes to make it through the semifinals. Torrales now will face off against Commack’s Samm Sclafani in the finale, airing this Sunday, the same day that she will graduate from Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale.

In the midst of the MSG Varsity Talent Show competition, Torrales was invited to perform at the H.O.P.E. for Stroke charity event on May 22 at Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa. At this community event she performed “Black Horse & a Cherry Tree”, the song that took her to the semifinals.

Fans can continue to show support for the Wantagh resident by tuning in for the Talent Show finals this Sunday at 6 p.m. on MSG Varsity (Cablevision channel 14), and placing your votes on the show's website.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
