Three from local area to perform July 30 at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in East Meadow.

Three Wantagh teens will perform in the county's "Reach for the Stars" teen talent show finals July 30 night at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre at Eisenhower Park.

This event was originally slated for last Friday and has been rescheduled.

Wantagh residents , 17, Justine Re, 18 and Elizabeth Stumpel, 19, are amongst the 21 finalists chosen from an audition pool of 64 contestants.

The annual competition is a showcase of the county’s most talented young stars between the ages of 13 and 19, according to county executive Ed Mangano. Previous winners of the competition include participants who moved on to American Idol fame; Levittowner Kevin Covais in 2003, and Merokean Robbie Rosen in 2009. This year, Linda Mangano will act as mistress of ceremonies.

Admission is free to the event, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

The Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre is located near parking fields 6 and 6A in Eisenhower Park. The venue offers no formal seating so concertgoers are urged to bring folding chairs or blankets. $20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
