5 Cars That Will Save You on Gas

With gas prices topping $4 a gallon at home, more than a few people might be in the market for a car that gets more miles per fill-up.

As gas prices continue to rise and nearly everyone looking to save a penny or two, many are turning to fuel-efficient vehicles. There a number on the market, according to autos.aol.com, but here are five that are considered among the most fuel-efficient cars out there.

2013 Nissan Versa

This 4-door sedan, which is also available as a hatchback, gets 36 highway miles per gallon and 27 city miles per gallon. The Blue Book value of the car is $12,086 and a typical monthly payment is between $226 and $319. This car is available at Massapequa Nissan in Seaford.

2013 Chevy Spark

This sporty 5-door, 4-passenger hatchback, available in vibrant colors, gets 38 highway miles per gallon and 32 city miles per gallon. The Blue Book value of the front-wheel drive car is $12,501 and a typical monthly payment is between $230 and $302. This car is available at Paul Conte Chevrolet in Freeport.

2013 Ford Fiesta

This 4-door, 5-passenger sedan is on the market for $13,369 with a typical monthly payment of between $249 and $343. It gets 39 highway miles per gallon and 29 city miles per gallon. This car is available at Hassett of Wantagh and Levittown Ford.

2013 Honda Fit

For $15,769, you can purchase a 4-door hatchback that offers second-row "magic seat" that folds flat to the floor for extra cargo room. The car gets about 33 highway miles per gallon and 27 city miles per gallon. Monthly payments on average are between $291 and $234. This car is available at Honda City in Levittown.

Ford Focus Electric

For $38,095, you can buy one of a number of electric cars on the market. This hatchback comes with a 107-kw electric motor that and a one-speed automatic transmission and gets 99 highway miles per gallon and 110 city miles per gallon. On average, a monthly payment is $740. This car is available at Hassett of Wantagh and Levittown Ford.
