Astoria Bank Teaches Wantagh Students the Value of Saving Money

Students at Forest Lake School in Wantagh were treated recently to an interactive lesson on saving money, presented by Astoria Bank. Cynthia Smith, Astoria Bank’s
Vice President, Banking Division and Wantagh Branch Manager invited students to suggest ways they can earn and save money to help create a healthy “money tree.” She also engaged students in reading a Berenstain Bears series book entitled Trouble with Money.

The Teach Children to Save program incorporates an age-appropriate curriculum developed by the American Bankers Association (ABA) Education Foundation. Over the past several years, Astoria branch managers have reached out to thousands of children in local schools to promote good saving habits, as a part of Astoria Bank’s commitment to education and lifelong learning in the communities it serves. Astoria Bank hopes to make a difference in generations of young people by sharing fun ways to become financial responsibility starting at an early age.
