Cherrywood Automotive Relocating in Wantagh

Harry Rotenberg has been serving the local community for more than 34 years, and now Cherrywood Automotive is relocating.

His current location, at the intersection of Wantagh Avenue and Jerusalem Avenue, will soon become a TD Bank. Rotenberg's business will shift south to the Wantagh Avenue and Beltagh Avenue intersection, right near Wantagh High School.

"We’re building a modern auto repair facility with a used car center," Rotenberg said. "We already serve many of the teachers. Hopefully, we'll serve the students too, and we can even educate them."

At age 17, Rotenberg served as an aircraft mechanic in the service, and he enrolled in automotive school right after that. As he said, the rest is history.

"We service each and every type of vehicle, foreign and domestic," he said. "Every year, all of our equipment is updated and all of the work is done in-house."

Currently, Rotenberg is going through the permitting process with the Town of Hempstead. He said, if all goes well, the opening of the new facility should take place shortly after the New Year.

"We’ve been in this community a long time," he said. "In hard economic times, we’re not running away. We’re staying here.”

Cherrywood Automotive is open on Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
