Cool Down in Wantagh-Seaford

With temps expected to hit sweltering heights this week, Wantagh-Seaford Patch tells you where to keep your cool.

Temperatures are expected to reach the low 90s Wednesday afternoon and the National Weather Service has even issued an air quality alert.

In Wantagh and Seaford, there are plenty of ways to beat to heat.

Escape to the ocean: While and Beaches are nearby, there are on Long Island if you want to remain in your air conditioned vehicle for a longer drive.

Play in a pool: The  Pool in Wantagh is remaining open until 8 p.m. today. The Pool is not slated to open until June 25. 

Cooling center:  The Town of Hempstead has announced that cooling centers are open to the public from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The closest area cooling center open today is the  at 1150 Seamans Neck Road.

Catch a flick:  has air condtioned theaters. The first movie, Rock of Ages, starts at 12:50 p.m. To check the full movie schedule at Seaford Cinemas today, click here

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
