Easter Egg Hunt Held at Wantagh Park

Holiday celebration hosted by Wantagh Chamber of Commerce.

Five thousand eggs were hidden at this past Sunday with children lined up in age order eager to find ones filled with candy and special prizes.

The youngsters were taking part in the 21st annual  Easter Egg Hunt, traditionally held on Palm Sunday. This year's holiday celebration drew around 600 people including Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, Town Clerk Mark Bonilla and Nassau County Legis. Dave Denenberg, D-Merrick. Many local businesses in the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce donated baskets, giveaways and food for the participants.

“This is our way of saying thank you to the community and our way to give back," said Linda Swanson, corresponding secretary for the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce and a chair of the Easter Egg hunt.

Swanson urged attendees at the Easter celabration event to thank managers at any Wantagh businesses who supported the event.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.
