Emily’s Eco-Eats: Restaurant Week in Wantagh-Seaford

Profiling places to eat out around town on a budget.

From Nov. 7-14, many area restaurants will be partaking in the fifth annual Long Island Restaurant Week and Wantagh and Seaford eateries are no exception.

Participating restaurants will offer diners a $24.95 three-course prix fixe that includes at least three choices of each course – three appetizers, three entrées, three desserts. The menu will be offered all night every night that participating restaurants are open, except Saturday when it is only required to be offered until 7 p.m. Participating restaurants in the Wantagh-Seaford area include , ,  and .

Andrew Johnson, manager of Thom Thom Steak and Seafood in Wantagh, said that restaurant week has multiple benefits for the eatery including bringing in new business, raising awareness about the business and helping to boost the local economy.

"Restaurant week attracts new customers and they get to taste our food, and it also lets us show appreciation for our current customers because it's a good value offer," said Johnson. "There is definitely a difference in the amount of customers.

Although restaurant week brings in money to the restaurant, Johnson explained that supporting local restaurants during promotions such as Restaurant Week, helps to get the economy moving, something that helps everyone whether they are a customer or not.

"Restaurant Week brings more people to the town," he said. "I don't know why everyone doesn't do this, it's a mistake not to."

Scott Bradley, owner of Snaps American Bistro in Wantagh, has been participating in Long Island Restaurant Week for the past four years. Snaps offers their entire usual menu for $24.95 during the week, and it brings in so much business that Bradley opted to extend it a week this year.

"Restaurant Week brings in a lot of customers and it helps us to reward our regulars," said Bradley. "It brings in business, which is good for everyone. The restaurants and the customers both love it."
