Former New York Yankees star centerfielder Bernie Williams will be making an appearance in Wantagh this Sunday in support of the .
Williams, who played with the Yankees from 1991-2006 and is also an accomplished guitar player, will be taking the stage at Sunday morning along with the Billy Joel tribute band "Big Shot."
The musical acts will coincide with popular WFAN sports radio personality Mike Francesa hosting his "NFL Now" show from Mulcahy's starting at 9 a.m. as a benefit for the Wantagh-based JTCF annual holiday toy drive. Both Williams and "Big Shot" will be performing during commercial breaks from Francesa's show, which gets underway at 9 a.m. and will be aired live on WFAN and the YES Television Network.
Francesa has been hosting "The NFL Now" on WFAN since 1987. The Long Beach native also broadcasted "The NFL Now" from Mulcahy's on Sept. 11 as part of a benefit for “Tuesdays Children”, a Manhasset-based non-profit organization that provides support for families of 9/11 victims and others impacted by global terrorism.
The legendary sports talk show his “Mike’d Up” show at Mulcahy’s on Dec. 2, 2010 prior to hosting the JTCF annual that night.
JTCF founder John Theissen is encouraging people who attend Sunday's show at Mulcahy's to bring new unwrapped toys for the organization's 20th annual holiday toy drive. Tickets for the show, which includes a breakfast buffet, are $20 for adults and $10 for children. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.
