Mulcahy's Plans Increased Focus Toward Catering

Longtime Wantagh venue increasing its food service options with newly expanded kitchen.

With a newly expanded full-service kitchen and 1,200 patron capacity,  in Wantagh is looking to focus on the catering side of business in the upcoming months.

Director of Catering Stacy Allen said the demand for catering and private events has grown rapidly and Mulcahy's has adapted accordingly.

"It's something we're definitely mainstreaming into now for the future," said Allen, a Seaford resident. "We seem to have a very specific venue that works well for the community with everything done on premise. We offer all different packages to suit special events like a shower or birthday party or larger events like a non-profit fundraiser."

Allen explained that the staff at Mulcahy's considers the needs of their client most important and works personally with each to customize their package.

"We have the capability to design menus, building layouts and beverage selections depending upon what the event may needs" Allen said. "Customization gives a personalized, family-like feel to the relationship we create with business and families we work with."

"Generally, we deal with these clients on a very long term basis," she added. "We establish very nice relationships with people that seem to last into the future, which reflects on the longevity of the facility itself."

Mulcahy's was first founded in 1983 and has earned a solid reputation as a premier nightlife landmark on Long Island in addition to the setting of annual events hosted by sports radio talk show host Mike Francesa, WBAB radio personalities Roger and JP and local charity owner .

The venue's next big fundraiser organized by the Wantagh Football Club and the will be held on Aug. 24 to benefit local teen Nick Pollo and his battle against brain cancer.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.
