Dairy Queen has announced plans to open a restaurant in Massapequa.
The Minnesota-based company’s website has a DQ Grill and Chill restaurant coming soon at 5366 Sunrise Highway in Massapequa, near the Westfield Mall.
DQ spokesman Dean A. Peters said the location is expected to open in early May.
No word on who the franchisee is.
Dairy Queen has more than 4,500 locations nationwide, but this would be the first on Long Island.
While DQ is famous for its ice cream, shakes and Blizzard frozen treats, the chain also serves burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and chicken.
Peters said DQ also plans to open locations in Manhattan and Staten Island in 2013.
