NEFCU Welcomed to Wantagh

Long Island credit union holds ribbon cutting for new branch in the Willow Wood Shoppes.

NEFCU was welcomed into Wantagh this past Friday with a ribbon cutting at the credit union's newest branch in the Willow Wood Shoppes.

The Wantagh branch is the 10th for the Westbury-based credit union that first opened on Long Island 10 years ago and only the third to open up shop in the Town of Hempstead. The closest NEFCU to the Wantagh area prior to the opening in Willow Wood Shoppes is on 5455 Merrick Road in Massapequa. The building housing the new NEFCU on 1157 Wantagh Ave. used to be home of a Washington Mutual.

"This is a real coup for the Wantagh community," said Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray at the March 30 ribbon cutting. "This is a real positive benefit to Wantagh."

NEFCU is considered of Long Island’s leading not-for-profit full-service financial institutions. The credit union has $1.8 million assets and nearly 150,000 members.

“This new branch demonstrates our ongoing commitment to serving Wantagh and the surrounding communities, and we are pleased to provide our members with an additional full service location to meet their banking needs," said Edward P. Paternostro, NEFCU's president and CEO.
