Sleepy's Aims to Switch Daylight Saving Time Day

The bedding retailer has launched an online petition to have the clock change moved to a Saturday.

Would moving Daylight Saving Time from Sunday to Saturday make your life easier?

Apparently Sleepy’s, a major bedding retailer headquartered in Hicksville, believes so and has created an online petition to make it happen.

According to the retailer’s Facebook page it has launched a grassroots social network effort, called Soften the Shock, by creating a petition at Care2 with the target of getting the Department of Transportation to adjust the 2 a.m. clock change from Sunday morning to Saturday morning in March.

The DOT oversees time zones and daylight saving time, according to published reports.

Sleepy’s claims that the move will make the time change easier on the human body, boost work productivity and make lives safer.

“The annual early Sunday time change results in Monday morning sluggishness and real problems including workplace fatigue, lower productivity and a higher rate of workplace, school and traffic accidents,” states the petition.

A survey by Sleepy’s in 2012 indicated more people than ever are in favor of making the change. When compared with a similar survey undertaken by Sleepy's in 2011, the 2012 poll showed an increase of 16 percent among those who favor the move. The 2011 Sleepy's survey stated four out of 10 people begin preparing for the clock change a week ahead of time.

So far the petition effort has 30 votes.

Good idea Sleepy's. It takes a few days to adjust. Better to start adjustment on Sunday than Monday.

Sleepy's should stick to tweaking their warranty. The smoke and mirrors warranty that they offer is a joke. Allow me to explain. For those of you that have purchased a mattress from Sleepy's, or any manufacturer for that matter, know that the mattress markup is unbelievable resulting in a bit of negotiating that is part of the mattress buying experience. A mattress that has a sticker of $2000 can usually be had for almost half of that (give or take). BUT...once you have to use the Sleepy's warranty, the Negotiation process STOPS. What Sleepy's will do is one of two things. They will even exchange your current defective mattress for the same mattress OR they will give you a store credit for the amount you paid for your defective mattress. That store credit may be prorated depending on your defective mattress's warranty. So, if you choose the store credit, you will receive a certificate for said amount. The catch is that on the certificate, it clearly states that you have to pay FULL market price for your new mattress. So that $2000 mattress you got for $1200 is now $2000. Why can't you negotiate a $2800 mattress down to the REAL price of $2000 and then get that mattress? This results in you getting far far less for your money as well as a lesser quality mattress.

The way to get around this is to go to Sleepy's with your Store credit Certificate at the busiest time and make a stink about it while letting all the other potential customers know how deceptive the Sleepy's Warranty is. In closing, who cares that Sleepy's wants the Daylight savings time switched. How rediculous!

The idea of switching daylight savings to Saturday is what this forum about. Best go to the better business bureau if you believe you we're ripped off.

Exactly and i did. Sleepys should but out of the Daylight savings debate and worry about their deceitful business practices.
