Walmart has opened a temporary hiring center at 148 Gardiners Ave. in nearby Levittown, as the retailer prepares to hire 90 associates to work at the new Walmart Neighborhood Market slated to open this summer in Gardiners Plaza, the company announced in a press release.

Applications will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at 148 Gardiners Ave., the former Total Sports Performance. Interested applicants may also apply online at http://careers.walmart.com

Walmart provides a benefits program to eligible full- and part-time associates. For example, the company said they provide a variety of affordable health and well-being benefits including health-care coverage with no lifetime maximum.

Walmart also offers eligible associates matching 401(k) contributions of up to 6 percent of pay, discounts on general merchandise, an Associate Stock Purchase Program and company-paid life insurance, the company said in the release.

The majority of new associates will begin work in June to help prepare the store for its grand opening, the release said.

The Walmart Market in Levittown, which will replace the vacant Walbaum's, will be the first ever on Long Island.
