Wantagh Gym Cleans Out from Sunday's Flooding
World Gym Fitness Center forced to close past three days due to water damage from heavy rain.
One Wantagh gym got particularly hit hard by Sunday’s heavy rainstorm and has been forced to shut down operations for the last three days due to flooding conditions.
on 3728 Park Ave., Wantagh, first announced on its facebook page Sunday morning at 9:10 a.m. that it would be closed that day because of the entire surrounding area of the facility being flooded. Wantagh got hit with the second highest rainfall in Nassau County Sunday with 10.1 inches, according to weather reports.
The gym remained closed on Monday and Tuesday with all members allowed use of World Gym’s Bay Shore facility. A voice recording on World Gym’s phone number says that the gym will re-open Wednesday but some sections will remain closed including the facility’s nursery school and cardio room. The nursery school will re-open Thursday.

The end of the World Gym voice recording said, “hopefully everything will be back to normal as soon as possible.”
Officials for World Gym could not be reached for comment on the extent of the water damage in the facility.
