Dec. 5: Tree Lighting, Panama Canal Speaker, Boy Scout Jewelry Sale

1. Monday is expected to be mostly cloudy in southeast Nassau County with a high temperature near 58 degrees, according to the National Weather Service

2. The Levittown Chamber of Commerce will hold a holiday tree lighting this evening starting at 6 p.m. at Levittown Veterans Memorial Park on the corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Shelter Lane. 

3. Former Panama Canal Commission Chairman Robert McMillan will be speaking at the Seaford Public Library today starting at 2 p.m. McMillan will give an insider’s look at the history and the future of Panama and the historic canal.

4. Boy Scout Troop 96 will hold a jewelry sale during its meeting this evening scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in Wantagh Congregational Church on 1845 Wantagh Ave. 

5. Another reminder that the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh is allowing residents to donate animals for free as part of their "Home for the Holidays" program. For more information, click here.
