Feb. 14: Valentine's Day, Funeral for Longtime Seaford Civic Leader, Crime Stats

What's happening in and around Wantagh and Seaford.

1. Today marks Valentine's Day providing an opportunity to show your loved one how much you care for them. If you are stumped about where to take your date for dinner tonight check out last week's list of five great romantic area restaurants.

2. Lifelong Seaford resident William Powell, a maritime enthusiast who was active in many local organizations, died on Thursday at the age of 64. Powell's funeral will held today starting at 10:30 a.m. at in Seaford.

4. The Wantagh High School boys and girls basketball teams are in action against Garden City this evening. The Wantagh boys basketball team hosts the Trojans at 6:15 p.m. The Lady Warriors are at Garden City for a 7 p.m. tip-off.

5. Local residents and animal activists are continuing to mount pressure on the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter and are calling on the state to investigate the Wantagh facility. In case you missed it here is a  of a protest at the shelter.
